Week 7: Tagging, folksonomies, del.icio.us and LibraryThing

I feel that delicious is something that will be of benefit to those people who move around different branches and want to be able to access their favourites anywhere.
Technorati I'm not so sure about; it was very "big brother" reading that your blogs are being tracked. I also found it hard to get the results for the search for nswpln2008 and I don't think I will be using this technology.
I will be doing more with librarything as I try to recall all my favourite books.

I am still feeling bombarded by all the things you can do with this technology and wonder who thinks of this "stuff" and how it all works and how much further can it all go!!

Week 6 Videos/ You Tube

I really enjoyed this journey and may be spending more time searching out quirky and obscure videos. I felt that the size of the screen was too small until my son showed me how to make it full size. With regard to the staff orientation video I think that is taking things too far; where is the personal contact?

I had some trouble embedding my video of choice - thank goodness for the tech savvy son. I chose Adam Hills Advance Australia Fair as it is so close to Australia Day and we are going to see him live next week @ Springwood - great comedy comes to the Mountains!

Week 5 Wikis

I had a look at the suggested wikis and I think that the Library Success best practices wiki will be quite helpful to me in my studies as well as into the future. One of my main concerns with wikis is their validity( as with any web site) and I was pleased to see that you had to create an account to edit an article and I also like the idea of an invite key.

Anyway onward and upwards to Week 6.

RSS

Finally finished Week 4. I can see the benefit in RSS and newsfeeds but I still like using my favourites as most of them don't have feeds attached. It took me a while to work out how to add a list of feeds to my blog but I finally did it and now I can look forward to wikis.
